Growth, Development and Metabolism
Our earliest memories aren’t just cognitive, but also epigenetic. In the Growth, Development and Metabolism program, we consider the nutritional and environmental impact on fetal growth, and its subsequent implications on future metabolic disease and cognitive spectrum disorders.
Infection and Immunity
The widespread incidence of common viral infections can sometimes lead to chronic illnesses and the onset of cancer. At the Infection and Immunity program, researchers seek out the mechanisms of infection in a variety of key tissues that allow the development of novel therapeutics for the clinic.
Brain Tumor Stem Cells
One of cancers most devastating variants, malignant brain tumors continue to crush patients and families with their rapid progression and poor prognosis. The Brain Tumor Stem Cell program aims to elucidate the underlying behaviour and growth of the key culprits involved – ‘brain cancer stem cells’. With a combination of patient samples and animal studies, we seek to improve treatment plans and quality of patient care.
